PSA: If you’re the type to bring a backpack as your carry-on (instead of a roller bag), bring a small item alongside it so they can’t force you to put it under your seat.

Just took a cotopaxi allpa 50L backpack on a two week trip around Europe. The top compartment detaches and you can use it as your personal item, while the rest of the backpack goes into the storage bin. Can’t recommend it enough

I have to vent - but also looking for advice please

I think unless you can really streamline your packing, you're going to have a hard time with this. You're kind of asking for a sports car and a pickup in one, which isn't impossible, but it's challenging. So here's the quick advice, often referred to as a 1.5 bag. Find the biggest bag you're comfort

Packing List] 3 Months in Europe (with Tour du Mont Blanc, Oktoberfest & Nordics) – First Attempt at Onebag(ish)

I’ve adopted a similar strategy with the Cotopaxi Allpa 50 Adventure. 42L main body. Top comes off for an 8L sling. Backpacking style harness system for comfort.

Best BagPacks for JLTG - please recommend some

The Jet Lag boys use Cotopaxi Allpa 35L backpacks (and in this latest season, Sam is using the new Cotopaxi Allpa 50L Adventure Travel Pack.) FYI both of these are pretty large to carry around for full days. I have the Allpa 28L and bring it as my only bag for trips of 1-2 weeks (it can fit a lot!)

I don't understand how someone does it

Do it once for a weekend road trip and you might get hooked. We’ve been planning and trying to streamline for a big international trip, and when we had a weekend road trip come up I decided to try my various tactics and gear. I was shocked when I was able to comfortably get everything in a 30L backp

Bag Finder Megathread - 01 December 2025

My boyfriend borrows my Northface Basecamp Voyager 42L for almost every trip we go on. We’re about to do 14 days in Italy and since it’s the holidays, I figured now is a good time to get him his own backpack duffel. He usually stuff my 42L full, so I want to get him something bigger but that he does

First Europe trip: backpack vs hybrid wheeled backpack vs luggage for long train travel?

No, it's only useful in my opinion if you need to backpack it for a short time. The smallest size is carry on compliant but the weight alone eats into your allowed kg. Especially if you're using budgets like Jetstar that only give you 7kg. I buy top up if I'm using the 32L option. I've always used a

How to one bag as a plus size person who has to wear 2 outfits per day

I think the Cotopaxi Allpa 50L Adventure would be better. Hear me out. It’s essentially a ~42L bottom bag, although the dimensions are smaller than the Allpa 42. It has a 8 liter sling zipped to the top that serves as your personal item. When you go through boarding zip the top off. With the top zip
