It would make more sense to upgrade your old Canon RP (6yr old consumer spec) to a newer/better Canon body with quicker AF rather than switch to a whole new system of lenses, unless you have other reasons to switch beyond wanting quicker AF.

Mirrorless cameras are probably the best option. Nearly all current mirrorless cameras can use simple adapters to mount Canon FD lenses.
