Of course the R5 is a great camera, the R5II didn't make it worse. The R5II, however, seems like it merges the high speed and high resolution product lines in a way Canon has never done before. I have both an R5 and an R3 because there's photography situations that significantly favor one or the oth

R5 Mark II This camera does everything I need it to, and well. If Canon made an R5 Mark II/III equivalent but in an R3/R1 form factor body (BG-R20 battery grip is too unnatural for me) I would buy two

Mirrorless Canon stopped developing DSLRs around 2020. The EOS R system with the RF mount is now the entire lineup. The M line was basically them playing around with mirrorless, RF is their proper implementation Autofocus. Possibly the biggest change, autofocus is done across the entire sensor, not

Don't focus on the slight difference in resolution. Even if you got the R6ii, you'd likely never notice a difference between 24 and 30 mp. I know someone that had a 90D (30mp) and upgraded to the first gen R6 which is only 20mp. He was so happy with the camera, he didn't miss the resolution at all a

I have the r7 and use it for wildlife and I would gladly use a 39mp stacked sensor. For wildlife the camera readout speed matters a lot to minimize rolling shutter. If I can find a reasonably priced r3 in the future I would gladly pick it up. The readout speed of a stacked sensor is usually faster.

Full frame Canon: If you don’t make any money from your photos and you value portability: Canon R8 If you make some money from your photos or you like to have pro features like dual card slots and battery life and IBIS then R6 series (mark ii or iii) If you make lots of money with your photos and yo

I started with Canon in the film days, the switch from FD to EF was jarring for me as I had a fair bit of FD glass that was really great quality. Saying that EF lasted a very long time and some of the glass that I bought thirty years ago is still with me. That glass stated on early EOS film cameras,

For wild life maximizing the pixels per duck is pretty important. Readout speed is also important. I would go with the r5 and use mechanical shutter. I think the r3 used is around 3k. R3 readout speed 3.2ms 1st curtain mechanical and 4.8ms electronic R5 readout speed 3.5ms 1st curtain mechanical and

I like the cropping capabilities of the R5 and their use in studio work, but the large file sizes are mostly a hassle, and thus the reason I was interested in the R6's. file size isn't the priority, what you want is the best autofocus for sports, which always means fully stacked sensors, like the r3
