Canon USA has increased prices across the board
There is no way that the R3 should cost that much. Two months ago I was contemplating moving to an R1 or R3 from my R6 mark 1. Now, I am thinking about selling all my Canon equipment and downsizing by switching to a Sony A7CR. These prices are accelerating my decision.

Roughly what percentage of your shots result in successful photographs?
I recently watched a 2 year old YT video with a pro sports photographer that said he got 20% usable shots with his equipment. At the 2024 olympics, Canon loaned him, I think, an R3 and a R5MII and his in focus % was like 85-90%. It made it harder for him to find images to submit because he had so ma

Canon R6 II or Nikon Z6 III for portraits + travel
A point that is often overlooked with Canon is their policy towards metering. Nikon and Sony allow spot metering on the AF point while tracking. Canon however considers this to be a flagship feature and it‘s hence only found in the R3 and R1. It‘s utterly ridiculous that Canon is restricting such a

Upgrading Photo Team Gear - Seeking Canon Mirrorless Recommendations
I like the cropping capabilities of the R5 and their use in studio work, but the large file sizes are mostly a hassle, and thus the reason I was interested in the R6's. file size isn't the priority, what you want is the best autofocus for sports, which always means fully stacked sensors, like the r3

Official Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know! March 20, 2026
Yes. It was an old feature in Canon's EOS 3 but it didn't always work so well back then. Canon has now brought it back with a much improved version in the R1, R3, and R5 Mark II.

Which Camera to buy?
Something like an Canon Eos R10 would be great for you i think! Edit: i see someone is mentioning the A6400, its also a good choice but the autofocus on the R10 is leagues ahead. It uses the same dual pixel 2 as the €6000 canon R3 with deep learning.

Film Photographers who worked before the digital era, what would be hard for those of us who started this later to understand/imagine?
I worked out once that, accounting for inflation, a Canon F1 cost as much as an EOS R5 - or possibly R3. 1100 pints of Guinness equivalent bought you an F1. 1100 pints of Guinness now puts you somewhere between an R5 and R3. (Or an R1 if you're a tourist in Temple Bar) The Pint Index is a useful pur

New Tamron 70-180mm lens distortion HELP
Not really... just incredible that you've had a camera capable of much more than mechanical shutter and, in four years, never used it! I test-ran a R5 two years ago for a big event and I was flabbergasted how bad the wet noodle effect was on baseball bats. It turned me off from going mirrorless at a
