Go with the R100. Canon isn’t producing lenses for the EF mount anymore, so, if you go with the modern lens mount system and ever decide to get more serious that camera will do you just fine. The R100 lacking animal eye detect is probably limiting your keeper rate, plus the small buffer for RAW photos will be limiting if you ever start shooting RAW.
