Any BIFL coffee grinders recommendations for an at home barista???

You’ll get a bunch of recommendations for Baratza however Baratza is now owned by Breville. That makes it an immediate non-starter in my house. Plus, so plasticky. I bought myself a df64 gen 2 that I love. Coming from a Breville Smart Grinder Pro (which was a gift), the difference was massive. I mos

Tired of my Breville Bambino setup… wedding registry upgrade? [$1800]

Keep the Bambino, buy a better grinder. Edit: additional information Consider what you want out of your espresso experience and how much time investment you're intending to put into things. A nicer espresso machine will have better temperature stability, likely because you're trading thermoblock for

Sundays are for playing at home

For this machine, I've used a Breville SGP grinder, and it works very well with a medium/dark roast coffee at grind level 6, with a naked portafilter. But currently, I prefer to use it with a hand grinder.

Good beginner setup?[buying advice needed less than $800]

I have both the smart grinder and the encore esp. The smart grinder is better. Anyone that says otherwise doesn't have a direct comparison . Encore is manual, has far more retention and I find more inconsistent. I have to change the grind size on it just getting through a single bag of 250g beans. A

[General Coffee Chat] Don't snooze on the Breville Bambino Plus -- it's a beast!

Its funny really because most people getting into this are told to go super high on the grinder end and while there is some validity to that, I think it also is a little OTT. The Breville Smart Grinder Pro does a great job. There is actually a video online by a coffee guy where he used a smart grind

[General Coffee Chat] Don't snooze on the Breville Bambino Plus -- it's a beast!

Just saw your comment. Yeah, I think the general consensus is bigger and more expensive is better but thats really not the case. The Bambino and SGP as you have seen too is perfectly fine. As for why i adjusted the inside grind setting. It was because I had seen a video online which said it will let

Breville Bambino Help and Local Espresso Beans Needed

Use beans from "Beanery" , buy their organic espresso beans. They sell 1/2 pound. Buy Breville smart grinder pro and grind them at Number 9 or lower. Espresso will come out.

Second hand equipment? [£500]

They are both owned by Breville however the acquisition is fairly recent so your second hand model may be from before that. The Baratza has a solid reputation as an espresso grinder and is a newer model than the SGP (which is 10+ yo I believe). Reviews are pretty unanimous that it helps you dial in
