Low shot temperature [Breville Barista Pro]
Iirc thermo block machines like Breville need resistance to get the set temp. Even a PID controlled machine that is pumping 93 degrees does not mean you will get espresso at 93 degrees. If your shot is too sour grind finer, use a longer ratio or increase your dose. I used to own a BBP and found when

Upgrade from 49-54mm machine to 58mm: regrets?
I upgraded from a breville barista pro to a 58.5mm Profitec move. It's amazingly more temperature stable, etc. I have had shots that are 2x as good as with my breville, but that's not likely driven by the portafilter size. The biggest difference IMO is that a lot of 58mm machines have better build q

Looking to ditch the daily café run — is Breville worth it and can home espresso actually match café quality?
I started with a Breville Barista Pro. There’s a significant learning curve but yes the end result can be as good or better than your local coffee shop if you use decent beans. The maths for a coffee (double shot with milk) at home is about $1.20-1.80 so it’s a huge saving that can cover start up co

Are the breville machines really that bad? Alternatives?
Breville machines are great. Had my BBP for two years and was able to make incredible drinks from it. The primary issue with them in my experience is that they are inconsistent - sometimes the espresso is amazing and other times it’s just totally off even though all the same parameters are in place.

This or that? Comparing Breville espresso machines
It’s interesting how my previous ~12 year old Breville Infuser had a heated group head but now it’s only the top of the line models that offer it. Was really surprised my Barista Pro didnt have it after I bought it

Bambino side-grade [$400]
There's really not a lot of consistency to be found in the temperature below PID machines. I would just be patient and spend the money on a worthwhile upgrade at the right time. I had a Breville Barista Pro for years until I saved enough for an Elizabeth, which was a dramatic upgrade that added a se

How much of an upgrade will this be? [$1000]
I made almost the exact same upgrade (BBP -> Legato v2 w/ DF54) and it’s a huge improvement. The consistency between shots is worth the upgrade alone. Yes, you will have to start your machine 15 minutes before pulling unlike the BBP, but the temperature stability of a single boiler is leagues above

Barista Pro steam wand dripping during use
I have the exact same issue with my BBP. It's called "wet steam". Even after a rigorous descale, it still continues. I'm starting to believe that it's simply a side effect of the thermoblock heating mechanism that is used in some breville machines rather than a traditional boiler.

Looking for machine recommendations [<$1000]
Breville barista pro, not express (no thermo-jet, no Baratza Burrs), not Bambino (non-adjustable fixed temp). Advantages of the Barista pro are: Baratza burrs, 3 sec heat-up time, adjustable temps good enough for light roast, Breville thermo-jets have relativity consistent temp stability as proven b
