I have a Breville Barista Express as well and I'm having a similar experience, but I'm choking at like 25-30, can't grind finer than that for any bean. I had a glorious shot on 26 once and then it choked the machine the next time I tried it. Very frustrating experience so far

I used to own a Barista Express, and found it's built-in grinder to be exceedingly messy. If you were to use yours with a separate grinder, that will solve your mess problem.
