What is so bad about Boox ereaders?

I will preface this by saying that I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the Boox, but I do understand the bad reviews you’re seeing. It all comes down to what you are expecting and what you’re willing to learn. If you are coming from a Kindle (and I assume a Kobo) you may be expecting any eread...

Best ereader outside of kindle?

The only one I would say to avoid is the nook. The software has always been mediocre. I chose to go with a Kobo libra colour after watching reviews. Waiting for it to arrive now. For me, it was the library integration, the UI design, and the page turn buttons. I do like the idea of readers like Boox...

Mihon on E-Ink

I've been using J2K and Komikku on boox for years and they work great. I tend to turn off the parts of the ui that's more animated, use the light dynamics theme, and turn on the flash on page setting. I also make sure that my system refresh is on 1 tap so I won't have ghosting issues.

What in your opinion is the best E-reader?

I have a Kobo Libra colour, Kobo Libra 2, Onyx Boox Colour Go 7, and Kindle paperwhite I read books from the library, buy directly from the author, or buy from the kobo store. My Kobo libra 2 has the best screen, but admittedly I don't use it as much as my Kobo Libra Colour (I love the color too muc...

I’m twisted and deranged and I’ve never been real with myself about it until now… kindle accessories

I think there are cases that using a page turner is a necessity. As I got older I find that capacitive screens stop responding so well to my fingers and I have to spend a little more time getting my phone to register my touches. It may seem small but it compounds especially when turning pages or scr...

For e-book readers, Amazon is killing a feature that let you download and backup Kindle books. This will happen on February 26th.

My Boox Palma 2 uses the volume buttons on the side to turn pages. It depends on the ebook app you use though. One of my favorite things about the Palma is it runs Android so in an load all the ebook store apps on it and read books from every seller (that has an Android app). It is still shitty what...

I got 2 e-readers for free?

I had the meebook M6C and sold it after a week. The animations made the apps so laggy to turn the pages. Boox is SERIOUSLY better. Even on apps where you can't remove the animation there are settings upon settings to adjust to make them disappear. :) Highly recommend. I currently have the Boox Page,...

Tips for new Boox Go Color 7 user

Here are some: On eink center set the highest refresh mode (Regal) for reading apps like Kindle or any manga app you use. You'll see a difference. For apps that have sound and probably will run on background, long press icon "Optimize" -> others , enable "Stay active on background" otherwise app wil...

Switching from reMarkable → BOOX Note Air5 C — looking for tips & advice

I have a Note Air 4c. I work in a tech retail store and we have the Remarkables on display - having tested both I can't say I felt that the texture of the screen on the Remarkable was any better than on the Boox which has a pre-applied matte screen layer (which I believe is true for the 5c as well)....

Want the kobo libra color but in BW

Is there anything that physically looks similar but in BW? Second-hand Kobo Libra 2 (but can be close to impossible to get). Other than that .. current BW ereaders with a similar physical form factor (7’’ and side buttons for page turns) would be the PocketBook Era (pure ereader, like Kobos or Kindl...
