I assume it’s an Encore ESP you have, in which case yes, it’ll do you fine as you dial-in. If it’s the base Encore, then not so much — it lacks the resolution to adjust grind size appropriately for espresso. budget: $200-400 German/italian/western make Oof, this will be tricky. Low end Eurekas can f

Nice! Check out the Baratza website I had the 30 and you can get the upgrade to dial in. Called: Adjustment Assembly for Sette 270 and Sette 270Wi. (I needed the shims too.)

If you liked the Specialita, it’s still a solid choice. But around that price you could also look at the DF64 Gen 2 64 mm flat burrs, low retention or the Baratza Sette 270 which is known for fast grinding and precise espresso adjustments. Both are commonly recommended alternatives in the sub 1k ran

Congrats on your Sette 270! I got a used 270 a couple months ago too and had similar questions. I single does my beans and programmed my top button for 10 seconds. For 18g at a grind size of about 5 (no shims) it takes around 7 seconds, but i just let the full 10 seconds run in case any beans trickl

I was one of the first to buy the Sette 270 when it became available. After dealing with some early production issues (which resulted in a quick replacement unit from Baratza) I've never looked back. I've been grinding 4 doses a day for over 6 years. Yes, I added a shim once which is no big deal, an

I’m a huge fan of the baratza Sette 270 wi. So much ability to dial up or down, add the shims and you have a whole additional level of fine. It is however quite loud.

Consider replacing your Sette's grind adjuster with the one from the Sette 270 with micro-adjustments. You can buy it from Baratza for around $100. That will solve your Settie's biggest problem which is its overly large step size.

Ngl, I think something is wrong with your grinder. I have the Baratza Sette 270 (with both burr sets) and grind between 10-16 for v60 and my drawdowns are <3:30s usually. Lots of things could be contributing to the issue (different beans, brew parameters, etc.), but that range for a baratza sette fo

Personally, I think the Baratza Sette 270 is a very good value. Very fine gradations (270 settings) that it is almost stepless but it is stepped so you can record specific settings. Relatively low retention - straight grind path. Grinds fine enough for La Pavoni. I've converted ours to single dose a

The answer depends on your espresso machine. If you have an inexpensive espresso machine that brews pressurized, your Encore will be fine. Ignore all the hate you will find for it on this sub. On the other hand, if you have a better quality machine that brews non-pressurized, you will have big probl
