Home espresso machine recommendations [$900]
for the price of the Breville Smart Grinder Pro, there are so many better options. hell, breville owns baratza, and the encore esp is the same price. and if you're single dosing, the df54 is only a little bit more expensive. bambino is a good option though. one of the best bang for buck at that pric

The amount of coffee in the body of my [Eureka Silenzio]
You should see my Baratza Encore ESP lol. Sometimes it is generous enough to share the coffee with me.

Df64, upgrade notable?
Are you moving from the Baratza Encore or the Baratza Encore ESP? I moved from the Baratza Encore (non ESP) to the CF64 (bought an open box model on sale) and it is a significant upgrade for me. It takes far less attempts to dial in the grind. That said if you don’t change beans often then you might

The Weekend Brew - What are you making this weekend? (May 2026)
Turkish grind is the finest of all coffee types (literally powder), so it really puts grinders to the test. Honestly, manual grinders give you the best bang for your buck for Turkish coffee. Check out the 1Zpresso J-Ultra or a classic Sözen hand mill. If you really want an electric grinder, you'll n

Flat vs conical burrs research says no one can reliably taste the difference (2013)
I have no doubt that the 3 flat-burr and 3 conical grinders studied indeed are quite excellent. But burrs and small changes in them, from what I have gathered in this subreddit, can be dramatically different and cause dramatic flavor profile differences. And this study is asking that a universe of o

Some VERY dumb questions for anyone with patience for me (totally new to this)
Yes, you need a better grinder for espresso. I have a Baratza Encore ESP with the Bambino Plus, and I have the same problems. This is my second one, after they replaced it under warranty following an hour long video session with them sending it through tests. There’s no difference between my previou

Bambino Plus → Cafelat Robot? Avoiding plastic in brew path [$700]
Flair 49 or 58 fits the bill and is readily available. I briefly had a Baratza Encore ESP and was less than enthused, might be worth putting a bit more towards the grinder for something that will be more robust.
