Varia VS4 – Real Talk from owners

I have had the VS4 for about two weeks. I was dialed in on my Robot in three shots. I was dialed in on my V60 in two. It is a marked improvement in consistency. My espresso and pourover preferences are on opposite ends of the spectrum; a tall order for one grinder to deliver. Daily - without fail, I

Baratza Encore ESP grinding issues [Delonghi dedica EC 685 / Encore ESP]

Hey! Thanks for the reply. I installed a new Baratza Ring Burr Holder (6768). It is still undamaged, no broken parts. The rentention is crazy after changing this , but fortunately, no play. Basket is dozed by volume too. Ensuring theres enough space for the puck screen. Again, i've had decent shots

Baratza Encore ESP Grinding Issues [Baratza Encore ESP]

Baratza calls it the Ring Burr Holder and it's essentially a consumable part that you will need to replace periodically. At least that's the case with my Virtuoso which is a similar design. https://youtu.be/RmISqdLZZgg The part is only $5 so I always order extras to keep on hand to minimize down tim

Some VERY dumb questions for anyone with patience for me (totally new to this)

Yes, you need a better grinder for espresso. I have a Baratza Encore ESP with the Bambino Plus, and I have the same problems. This is my second one, after they replaced it under warranty following an hour long video session with them sending it through tests. There’s no difference between my previou

Bambino Plus → Cafelat Robot? Avoiding plastic in brew path [$700]

Flair 49 or 58 fits the bill and is readily available. I briefly had a Baratza Encore ESP and was less than enthused, might be worth putting a bit more towards the grinder for something that will be more robust.

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread

What are your favorite flat burr grinders that support grind sizes from press and pour over to espresso? I was pretty interested in the Baratza encore esp but I'm not into the idea that the impeller is plastic and can flake off over time.

Baratza Encore ESP

The baratza encore esp grinder is terribly designed. This burr holder bracket constantly cracks, it retains a ton of grinds, cleaning is a PITA (gaskets are always clogged, dealing with shims, that dumb felt seal). If you do the service right, you're constantly replacing these cheap parts. This brac

Why get the pricey coffee accessories?

You seem to be asking two questions: Are the brand names worth paying extra for? And does one really need to pay for pricey accessories? I'm not sure about the brand name question. For my coffee maker and my grinder, I read a lot of reviews and bought what looked like the best option, which in both
