i think you’re overthinking it a bit. no chair fixes posture by itself, it just makes it easier to sit right. setup and habits still matter. mesh vs foam is mostly preference, lumbar just needs to be adjustable so it doesn’t push too hard. if you want sth in the middle that you can actually tweak, A

It's an ErgoChair Pro from Autonomous. I bought it on sale recently, so I haven't had it for very long, but I'm really happy with it so far. It's super adjustable and comfortable.

I'd avoid anything that is a "gamer chair". Get something ergonomic. Check out your local office supply store. Find something with lots of adjustments. Some others to look at are Autonomous ErgoChair Pro, Herman Miller Aeron, and Herman Miller Embody.

under $500 I’d lean toward a solid new chair unless you trust the refurb source. hit or miss refurbs can feel like gamble #3 again. for that range, autonomous ergochair pro is one of the safer picks. not luxury tier, but adjustable enough to actually dial in your back support instead of just hoping

they are better, but only if you actually need what they offer. aeron and leap level chairs make sense if you’re super sensitive to posture or sit 10 hrs daily, otherwise it’s kinda diminishing returns. im using Autonomous Ergochair Pro right now, mid range price but enough adjustability to dial it

My ergo chair pro and electric desk both from autonomous have been a disappointment. I also have been in IT for 20 years. I’m constantly experiencing shoulder pain from the positioning the chair and desk positions. The armrests limit the desk height. You have to wonder who tested these products.

Thank you for your condolences 🙏🏾.Personally, I think it'll last. its got a weight rating of about 300lbs. My neighbor is 275 and has had his Ergochair pro for about 3 years now. His wife has had her autonomous' Avo chair since like 2022 iirc (though i don't think they make that anymore).
