Trying to decide between TrueNAS, a Linux-Mint-based setup, and a Synology/ASUSTOR NAS for sharing files on a local home network
I think everyone would have their personal preference. For me, I wanted to set up an all SSD NAS and run TrueNAS, so I got an Asustor Flashstor and replaced the built in Asus OS with TrueNAS. Seems to work well, but obviously costs more than an existing laptop or hard drives and is pretty much overk

Looking to build a NAS - is this about as budget as I can go for my needs?
NVMEs + Hard Drives are totally unnecessaryI have a Asustor Flashstor 6 , yeah I cried about the price at first, But now I just smile as it is so quiet
