ASUS RT-AX86U Pro sold out everywhere -- BE6800 comparable? Other options?

Assuming that's the Asus RT-BE86U for $15 more, it's the direct replacement and improved in literally every way, you'd be silly not go just go straight to the BE device, even if you never end up using Wi-Fi 7 on it.

Questions about Router options and features

Yes, other routers have much more functionality than yours. I use Asus routers with Asuswrt-Merlin, and it's incredibly powerful. I can set up three "guest networks" each for 2.4GHz and 5GHz. I have one set up for cameras and IoT devices - they can reach my Home Assistant server and DVR, but they ca

R7800 Failing, new router?

I like Asus for all-in-one routers, and since you are familiar with custom firmware, you might be interested in Merlin compatible models. Also, the prices of "BE" (WiFi 7) models have come down enough that you should strongly consider buying one, even if you don't have a lot of WiFi 7 clients right

Need help choosing a router.

Whoa! $899 for a router? (ASUS GT-19000AI). Based on what your stated needs are, I agree with u/Junior_Resource_608 that this router may exceed your needs. The ASUS BT-BE98 Pro ($628) is also rather pricey. While you would know best what you truly need, I have some thoughts to share. I think you could

Should I get a Tri Band router?

I'd rather get a good dual band (4x4 on 5GHz) like the RT-BE86U or RT-BE88U than a mediocre triband. I don't understand the hate for dual band Wifi 7 devices, 6GHz is useless in practice due to the short range, you might as well use a cable and mobile devices don't need speeds over gigabit. A good t

Looking for new(ish) consumer WiFi router suggestions

(Part 1/2) How large is the residence that needs WiFi coverage? On how many floors (looks like just two)? Are you interested in WiFi 6E or WiFi 7? What's your budget? I'll assume a maximum of $300 USD. I'll focus on WiFi 7 below, but if you specify additional requirements I could share additional re

Should I buy the ASUS RT-BE88u an almost 2 year old router and join it with my RT-AX92U routers?

If the RT-BE88U is within your budget and you aren't concerned by its price, you could certainly buy it and use it. Especially in a wired backhaul AiMesh setup with the RT-AX92U units, where the AX92U units serve essentially as wired access points. In that respect it doesn't matter too much that the

Wifi Router With Vlans

I’ve used newer ASUS models and their VLAN solution - fairly easy to use and master. I would recommend the RT-BE86U (or RT-AX86U Pro if you don’t want/need WiFi 7) to get your feet wet. I’m currently on a Unifi setup - you can get very granular, and it can get very complicated very quickly if you do

Would the ASUS GT-AX11000 Pro be a good replacement for my ASUS RT-AC66U?

No problem, glad you found the details helpful. If you want to have the 6ghz band for WiFi 6E (and you are interested in ASUS routers) then ASUS makes a a WiFi 6E router that's a good deal right now on Amazon for $199.99 (ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000 - 2.4ghz/5ghz/6ghz bands). The port selection is
