What is a rock-solid affordable router for an average family?
I have built a 5-node mesh system with those Asus routers (RT-68U + RT-AC66U B1 + RT-AX86U) for my house, garage and guest house, works great!. Bought them all for around 25€ per unit on Facebook Marketplace :-)

Work computer needs internet but I don't want it on my home network
Several Asus routers support vlans. I have a rt-ax86u Pro that supports vlans. Easy to set up if you follow the guides. Do not get the non-pro version of this router.

Considering Flint 3 or Asus 86u pro

Slow, clunky app
Wanted to share some updates. The only way I was able to resolve this issue was to make the HB3 broadcast on a different WiFi channel compared to my home router. I currently use 2 Asus AX86U (mesh node is wired backhaul) on Merlin FW. This workaround will ONLY work if you wire your HB3 to your route

HomePod 18.6 solve the audio dropout issue
I have an ASUS RT-AX86U Pro running Merlin firmware. I live in a WiFi rich environment wherein I have to monitor the channels periodically to make sure I am still the king of the hill for my channels. I have pretty much an Apple ecosystem network in 1,500 sq ft.
