Is this unacceptable?

You will be better putting virgin hub in modem mode and using your own router. I'm on M500 using a Asus ax82u router. This is a speed test taken upstairs with router downstairs.

Mesh or AP, recommendations?

I have two RT-AX82U setup up, one as primary and one via AIMesh. Works swimmingly and in case one goes down, I can use the other as primary router.

Mesh or AP, recommendations?

1.) No, you can mix and match asus products. If you are going wireless, tri-band (dedicated wireless backhaul) may be better. But if you have it wired, dual-band is fine. 2.) as long as it is wired, it should not matter 3.) You can just buy another RT-AX82U, and it will work. If you go to the web in

My wife and I keep getting kicked off from the internet! Do we need 1 gig of internet speed? (AT&T fiber)

Put the ATT device in passthrough mode. Buy and setup an Asus RT-AX82U.

Random Freezing and Stuck Streams

I am currently running two Asus RT-AX82U via ethernet backhaul in our two story house. I generally recommend Asus as they are the most feature rich routers (no features are hidden behind a paywall) even though their routers are relatively underpowered. As for passthrough mode, see here https://help.

ASUS RT-AX82U Support Lifecycle for Security Updates

That's not the problem, clearly you aren't educated on this, you can have „Linux“, just that it has to have an licence with it. „FreshTomato“, „AsusWrt-Merlin“ and other's exist with full open source code. „OpenWrt“ has a strict all component level requirement to work. In short, if you use a driver

The incompetence of this company knows no bounds

I’m a big fan of Asus, kind of pricey but a set it and forget the RT-AX82U model, it’s a little older but for 160$ it’s amazing. Been running mine for 4 years now no issues.Make your wireless ssids separate one for 2.4 ghz and one for 5ghz Here’s a link to it https://shop.asus.com/us/90ig07w0-mx1r1v

Budget 5GHz AP with VLAN option

Miss read the title and assumed OP was just looking for WVLAN access point for IOT devices. I use an ASUS RT-AX82U and a TUF-AX5400 for wifi AX in AP mode and a unifi AC pro for IOT stuff. Plenty of bandwidth on the ASUS but I tend to switch between them if I'm doing stuff like streaming VR. None of
