How can I improve my grandmas wifi ? It currently sits at around 35 mbps.

usually they want you to swap over to the latest DOCIS spec'd modem they support because its cheaper for them bandwidth wise. as for a router, I'd suggest a RT-AX58U, supports wifi 6, cheap, reliable.

Spent 10 hours trouble shooting the new asus modem😑 worth it after all

Wow! Thank you for mentioning this. I have RT-AX58u V2 which I bought with intention to install merlin, but I then found out there are 2 hw versions of it and I got 2nd which is unsupported.

WiFi router under 20k

Don’t purchase anything less than Wi-Fi 6, because it has beamforming and other really great technologies. So, range won’t be your problem on the 5 GHz band. Also, no matter what router you’ve got, switching to Wi-Fi 6 will definitely give you a huge improvement in stability. And don’t buy anything

I bought a house and don’t know what to do about bad internet in my office.

My setup: asus rt-ax58u with three zenwifi ax mini (the mesh). two of the mesh devices are connected via moca actiontec ecb6200, gocoax wf-803m. iperf3 gives me 8xx-9xx mbps over moca. 3000 sq foot house, three floors including basement. Best router+wifi I've ever had. Rock solid. 80+ total devices

WAP seems to be slowly dying, looking for advice for a new one

I think the asus rt-ax58u is your best bet for that price, if you are having weak signal at a distance get a second one and try to hard wire them together.

I don't care how much it costs, what is the best wifi in 2025

Bummer to hear. I haven't run into any of those issues with the RT-AX58U and RT-AC3100.

Anyone have success streaming high bitrate 4K videos without buffering?

Edit: try increasing the vcpu cores to 6 or more and see if your performance improves on the True NAS playback. I have a bunch of 4K UHD rips and direct play them over wifi daily (in home). One of my home theater setups is about 20-25 feet from my home office (where the router is) and theres about 1

ASUS RT-AX58U V2 vs TP-Link Archer BE3600 vs TP-Link Archer AX55 (1GBPS up/down)

I think the AX55 is too underpowered compared to the others, so I’d skip that one. The Archer BE3600 has a 2.5gb WAN port as well as a single 2.5gb LAN port, with some additional 1 gigabit LAN ports. That gives you faster speeds for your network if you ever upgrade your internet beyond 1 gigabit. If

How good of an Internet I need?

I like Asus routers a lot. There are other good brands too, and people in the homenetworking sub could recommend more. I would say these are good options depending on budget: ASUS RT-AX58U (100 USD), ASUS RT-AX86U (150 USD), ASUS RT-AX86U Pro (200 USD)
