This is already an issue, just because a router is 1Gbit, doesnt mean its processor can handle that throughput, case in point my old Asus RT-AC68U. It is a gigabit router, but throughput with features turned on max out the CPU and you only get about 700mbit from the WAN. Lots of people with old jank

"My ASUS RT-AC68U seems to be limiting the speed on 2.4 GHz — I can’t even get close to 100 Mbps"- Thats about right. Practical speeds on 2.4GHz are about 50ish Mbps using default settings. Want higher speeds? Use 5GHz.

What else is in front of the AC-68u? The ISP speeds you’re talking about (1,000 —> 1,200 Mbps) sound like DOCSIS cable speeds, so is there a cable modem (or ISP router in bridge mode) sitting in front? For simplicity, I will call this device a modem (even though it may be an ISP gateway device) sinc

That's pretty much what I'm currently experiencing with AC68U. I could swear it used to download at 500-600 in our previous apartment, and now it's down to just 200-300 on a 1 gbps WAN as well - same ISP, same plan. No changes to settings.

I replaced my ancient AC-68U with an ASUS RT-BE86U and in the mean time, sent it back. Either for repair or for a refund. For a device that is about 12 years newer, it was just awful. It was actually worse than the old Asus router: Many devices often lost the connection (tables, raspis, phones, tvs,

I have two RT-AC68u routers and I eventually had to auto schedule weekly reboots because of that. No matter how many updates Asus came out with, it never got better. I finally switched to opnsense for a router this year and use my AC68u in AP mode for wireless and now I don't have to do reboots. Eve

Thank sarannya gan, nanti sy compare sm yg Ruijie, klo selama ini puas sih pake unifi AC lite, update firmware jg sering, dan stabil, sebelumnya pakai Asus AC68U, klo pas loadnya banyak, latency nya jd gede.

Ive had one for a while too - until area offered 2Gig Fiber - so i needed to upgrade the router since ports were only 1gig (and everything else in the house also eneded refreshing to support to at least 2.5g) to achieve advertised speeds; So I ended up getting into pfsense on a minipc with dual SFP+

if you have a lot of devices that sport WiFi 7 with a multigig ISP you could possibly hit.. 1200mbps on your WAN(internet)with line of sight/same room as router .. otherwise .. going through walls ....older WiFi cards in phones/laptops along with far distances..probably just as bad as WiFi 6.
