Upgrading Asus RT-AC68U - Recommendations Please
I got the Mikrotik HeX Refresh (no wifi) for router recently to use separate devices for routing and wireless. I set up my two asus ac66u_b1 to work in 'AP with AiMesh' (same hardware as ac68u). A week later, realised that one of the routers' wifi has failed. Then got the Microtik hAP ax s. Loving t

Why is my ASUS RT-AC68U capping 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi speed?
"My ASUS RT-AC68U seems to be limiting the speed on 2.4 GHz — I can’t even get close to 100 Mbps"- Thats about right. Practical speeds on 2.4GHz are about 50ish Mbps using default settings. Want higher speeds? Use 5GHz.

Sep 2025 NBN speed update
This is already an issue, just because a router is 1Gbit, doesnt mean its processor can handle that throughput, case in point my old Asus RT-AC68U. It is a gigabit router, but throughput with features turned on max out the CPU and you only get about 700mbit from the WAN. Lots of people with old jank

Don't see a good reason to upgrade Asus RT-AC68U other than updates
Ive had one for a while too - until area offered 2Gig Fiber - so i needed to upgrade the router since ports were only 1gig (and everything else in the house also eneded refreshing to support to at least 2.5g) to achieve advertised speeds; So I ended up getting into pfsense on a minipc with dual SFP+

Help with my home network remake after 10 yrs
That's pretty much what I'm currently experiencing with AC68U. I could swear it used to download at 500-600 in our previous apartment, and now it's down to just 200-300 on a 1 gbps WAN as well - same ISP, same plan. No changes to settings.

Added an RT-AX3000P as a new AiMesh node to my home network and it is not doing great, can I ask for some advice?
So that’s a lot of aimesh how much sq footage are you covering? Also take that AC68U out of the mix that’s a wifi 5 system and that’s going to bottleneck your system a bit as all the other ones are wifi 6 systems does it work sure will it work well probably not as it uses different wireless protocol

By today's standards, I'd say so since he is 2 generations behind (6E and 7 exist). Also, RT-AC68U is WiFi 5

Tailscale Exit node not effective
Thanks I'll review this, however the issue is on the Asus AC68U end. Brume 2 exit node is working fine, as I have tested my PC, iPhone and android show the exit node IP when using the brume 2 exit node. However your plug-in looks promising for an Older Brume 1 I may want to test. Is that compatible

Bricked ASUS AC-68U, please help
Let me know if your router gets decent wifi speeds. I've had issues with my AC1900P running the lateset freshtomato. The harware is similar to the AC68U I believe.
