Anyone else switching to a mini PC and feeling kind of… surprised?
I tried asus nuc 15 pro 225h. It was inaudible for my workload. You can adjust fan curves, thermal targets in bios. I also disabled e cores in bios, effectivly lowering power consumption by a lot and also improve thermals. For my workload it was ideal.

For non-business users, - BeeLink SER8 - BeeLink SER9 - Asus NUC 15 Pro with an Ultra 7 255H CPU. - M4 Mac Mini for photography or light video editing.

M4 Mac mini vs Nuc pro (intel 225h - 32 GB)
For those tasks, get the Asus NUC 15 Pro (Ultra 5 225H). You will need 32 GB of RAM and a gen 4 SSD at minimum. The base M4 Mac Mini only has 16 GB of RAM and their SSD is on par with gen 3 SSD. Even with it's amazing CPU, it would struggle.

Is there any mini PC like budget system for transcoding 4K HDR HEVC to HEVC with Plex Sync maintaining HDR. If possible future proof with AV1 encoding support as well?
So after a lot of thought I ended up going for the budget option, GMKtec G3 Plus, Intel Twin Lake N150. ($150)I thank you all for your suggestions as it truly gave a better sense of what I need vs what I would like to have. Why the G3 Plus for me: - Price. The media server needs to be cost effective

I am using Asus NUC 15 pro+ . everything is working quite well till now. Using LG monitor and logitech wireless keyboard mouse, Everything seems to be ok.

Verification; miniforum UM870 Slim barebone
I installed that RAM kit in an Asus NUC 15 Pro+, no problems at all, works like a dream. Kingston makes good gear. Related to the others, dunno why wouldn't be compatible.
