What actually makes an espresso machine better than another?

A good thermoblock or a good thermojet (Ascaso Steel Duo Pid, Decent, Zuriga) will be as stable as a boiler machine.

What was your next upgrade after the breville bambino?

Ascaso Steel Duo PID. Best decision so far. The controllable PID, the adjustable OPV and the big jump in steam power are a game changer. Shots are much tastier and way more consistent too. It probably won't be my end game setup, but as of now, I don't have any machine that triggers my upgradetitis.

How far did you jump from GCP, not because you could, because of taste [No budget]

I very honestly believe that in terms of espresso taste a modified Gaggia is top tier. The ability to do pressure and flow profiling opens up a completely new potential which most high-end machines cannot provide. I could only imagine that e.g. a Decent, Meticulous or San Remo You could be somewhat

Ascaso Steel duo plus vs Lelit Mara X V2 [3000$]

Another Ascaso Steel Duo PID owner here, and another glowing review. Been a dream since day one, couldn’t be happier. Makes great coffee, very stable on back to back shots, quality of the machine feels nice and the tank is brilliant for refilling. All that, PLUS a few minutes heat up time? Hard to b

What dual thermoblock machines out there?

4 months into my Ascaso Steel Duo PID Plus ownership here. Here are my pros and cons: Pros Fast heat up. 5 mins with the portafilter in the group head and a quick flush = ready for business Can pull a shot and steam at the same time Fantastic back-to-back consistency Engaging u/x with the clicky swi

My setup, still dialing it in

Congrats. It's a great machine. I've been slinging spro and milk drinks from my BBE since the pandemic lockdown. It's been reliable and a workhorse, but not super consistent. I have an Ascaso Steel Duo Plus on the way to replace it, but it will be retired with full honors. Not that you asked, but in

Ascaso Steel duo plus vs Lelit Mara X V2 [3000$]

I had the same decision and went with the ascaso steel duo pid. I love it and highly recommend. It's very consistent and heat up time is very quick. Make sure your wiring supports the higher amperage needed or your steam pressure may suffer.

Ascaso Steel Duo Plus

I‘ve seen so many videos about it that I didn‘t even bother trying it. From what I remember, the sensor is not at the best place so you can‘t really get consistent extractions. But I already knew I wouldn‘t use that feature before buying the machine. I prefer pulling every shot manually anyway. If I

Ascaso Steel Duo PID V2 adjustments for better espresso

This is a machine that’s been rated highly based on several comparisons. I have the Breville Oracle Jet and in retrospect wish I had gotten the Ascaso Steel Duo Plus. The Jet is OK but inconsistent and when you go to manual mode, it‘s hard to dial in. Also had to do a couple adjustments just to get
