I was told HomePods are "just loud" and "theres a difference between loud and good sound" by my coworker. Is it still worth getting one?
True. I’d describe the HomePod minis as a Siri device first, a speaker second. Full sized HomePods are the opposite. I’d rather spend $300 on a single homepad than $300 on 3 minis.

Stereo HomePods are stupid laggy and slow down my WiFi?!
I learned after my gen 1 HomePods to either live with the countless frustrations or to get rid of them. I chose to get rid of them. I literally threw them in the garbage after they pissed me off one last time. I’ve since gotten two HomePod Mini that work ok, but only because I have very limited expe

August Wi-Fi lock works, but not very well
I put a HomePod mini close to it (4 feet) and it works like a charm

Bit the bullet
Are you going to use Apple Home for your home control stuff? I have an older ATV 4K that doesnt support thread so I use a single HomePod mini as my hub (I'm waiting for new ATVs and Minis to come out) and everything works great! Even wifi bulbs and plugs.

Dynamic Island displaying the wrong HomePod device
This has been happening to me for years. I only have HomePod minis, yet the full-sized HomePod glyph constantly appears in the Dynamic Island. Just one of many bugs that Apple will probably never fix.

Switching from Alexa
Different person here, can’t really answer your first question but in my experience the Apple TV was actually a bigger change than the HomePod (in a good way). I was used to using built-in functionality of Samsung/LG TVs, Fire Sticks, etc., and Apple TV blows them out of the water. It’s just faster,

Honestly, WTH? Who can explain what is going on here?
I get this error when I tell one of my smart plugs to power on or off using a HomePod Mini. My HomePod Mini has trained me to say it exactly as "Hey Siri, living room pet cam power on/off" If I say "Hey Siri, turn off the living room pet cam" or if I swap the order of basically any part of the sente

Issues with matter router. Maybe I don’t understand
If you buy a HomePod Mini right now for $99, you’ll have the Thread Border Router you need to make your chosen ecosystem—Apple HomeKit—work. If you buy the latest model Apple TV that has an Ethernet port, you’ll accomplish the same thing. But, I think you’ll mind having a slightly-older HomePod Mini

Apple TV vs HomePod Mini as Thread Border Router
I'll add a possibly controversial opinion here: Apple TV 4K with thread support $149 HomePod mini $99 Unless you also have a TV and a streaming service, the Apple TV 4K is mostly just a Thread border router. A HomePod mini is a Thread border router plus a speaker. A wired device matters more when yo

Matter lights in outbuilding
Yeah, putting a HomePod mini in the garden house is probably the cleanest solution. Since you already have Ethernet + Wi-Fi there, it should extend the Thread network properly and make the IKEA Matter bulbs way more reliable.
