Is there a "use this camera with Blue Iris" post?
Not trying to stir up controversy, and I know a lot of folks use Empire Tech, but $244 for a 4MP turret camera is a bit high for what you’re getting. Is there any reason you use these as opposed to something like a ln Amcrest, or Anpiv?

Reolink cameras with protect
I can't give you specific info about Reolink cams because I don't own any. However, I have many Amcrest cams that I'm using with Protect. If you add a 3rd party cam to Protect, it'll record 24/7 but you won't get any motion events or AI features. Just straight recording. You can use the timeline scr

NVR w/ Hikvision Cameras
I had a delay issue on latest 7.1.60 with some amcrest cams. Had to set camera to h264 and 1440p CBR, acc audio. I didn't like vbr or the weird higher 2k resolution.

Looking for a specific setup
Don't ever use Wi-Fi cameras for this, and much less battery powered cameras. Just no. Use PoE camera system. If you want to get into using a PC as NVR or similar, then look up Blue Iris or Frigate. $100-ish per camera is only Reolink or maybe Amcrest, but tbh at this price point Reolink is better.

What's going on with my AI Port?
The AI Port is weird when it comes to cameras that have multiple streams. My Amcrest cams have 3 streams; 4k, 1080p, and 720p. I can add 3 cams to an AI Port using 1080p (HD), but then with no input from me, the AI Port will pick up a 4k stream from one of the cameras and disconnect the other two. I

3rd-party Onvif Motion Detection after Update to Protect 7.1.46
This should be a toggle. I’m about to rip out my Amcrest cameras from protect because I don’t want this. I have AI port setup for these cameras and I’m getting camera initiated motion events. If I go into the camera and turn off motion events, “system” turns it back on. I think protect might be doin

Ubiquiti Protect Update
I have Amcrest cameras and experienced a very similar issue. I extended the duration between event triggers because that was an option. Took care of one problem. The other problem is not related to firmware. It is absolutely a problem with the update. I know this for a fact because I have had these

Is there a "use this camera with Blue Iris" post?
I'm not aware of any pre-built battery operated cameras that stream continuously ("pre-roll" as you call it). You need a hardwire powered cam to do this. It doesn't have to be PoE. I use a Amcrest Doorbell wifi cam that streams constant footage to BI at my front door. It's powered by my doorbell tra

Home POE doorbell recommendations
As I said, don't ever get anything Wi-Fi if you can avoid it, anything that's aimed for security must never run in Wi-Fi nor weak communication protocols that are not reliable and can be easily be jammed. Battery powered cameras are just useless, and that is without counting jammers, we are talking

Help me pick out a new cam to catch this butthole...
People in video surveillance world knows that g6 cameras aren't great thanks to their poor mp to sensor size ratio. 4mp at 1/1.8 sensor will do a lot better at night than 8k but since it's Ubiquiti, people will think "more mp = better". Some of the night time footage I'm seeing from these cameras ar
