Any home security camera systems without subscription?
All my cameras are Amcrest PoE and none require a subscription. Reolinks are similar. There are actually quite a few to choose from, but I'm not entirely sure where you are on budget friendly. The Amcrest cameras I buy are around $80-$95 each. The high end of that is 4K resolution, night vision, AI

I need recommendations for security cameras for an “art piece” I’m working on
Amcrest POE NVR with Amcrest Night Color vision cams (IP8M-TB2886EW-AI). This will give you 24/7 recording in 4k with excellent night vision.

2025 was a rough year with stampedes, fires, attacks. Did e-surveillance actually step up?
We’ve had cameras everywhere for years, yet many systems still behave like passive witnesses. Recording instead of reasoning. Watching instead of warning. 2025 was the year AI went mainstream, which means: We can run highly effective DIY Frigate NVR's with AI-detection locally, cloud-free Which ties

Best POE Camera for HKSV
I have the Amcrest cameras with HKSV, 3 different kinds and all support POE. They've been great, but the browser based admin page to config settings is trash. Other than that, I'm happy with them. ETA: didn't read the bit about color night vision, but seems like they have models that support it as w

Plug and Play camera add options
Yeah I'm not a fan of those cameras or the ones that have the color light in front of the camera. Thankfully you can turn off the spotlight on the settings but I have not found the option to do so for the color LED. So those are color night vision enabled, the spotlight helps provide the color night

Looking for a good long range POE camera with night vision.
The IPCAMTALK nerds would be better suited for this. If you need damn good clarity at night; Dahua, Uniview, Hikvision with the brandings of Starlight, Colorvision, etc are in your ballpark. My only thing is they come in 2K res because of their required aperture and stuff. Not my ballpark. There are

Outdoor security camera for a tropical climate?
Amcrest color night vision. A deterrant that says "I am watching you!" Is better than a hidden camera that you would use to see the damage done. Motion lights would also help.

Best wildlife pond camera setup (prefer wifi to cellular)
I’m running a 4kpoe ptz nightfighter from HukVision, but I don't like that brand and wish I had gone another way. If I were buying today I’d do some research on an Amcrest 4K PoE PTZ since it has real optical zoom and a built-in mic. I wish mine had audio from the start. The movement doesn’t bother

Help me pick out a new cam to catch this butthole...
People in video surveillance world knows that g6 cameras aren't great thanks to their poor mp to sensor size ratio. 4mp at 1/1.8 sensor will do a lot better at night than 8k but since it's Ubiquiti, people will think "more mp = better". Some of the night time footage I'm seeing from these cameras ar

What CCTV cameras are good for home servers?
Amcrest is ok. Step up is EmpireTech/Dahua, they use bigger sensors and have much better night vision in color with much less ghosting. I wish I had skipped the Amcrest 4k and gone straight to the EmpireTech 2k. The bigger sensor is better than the megapixels in my opinion.
