For the Kindle people coming in…

Recent Kindle convert here, my Oasis was my all time favourite device (gifted to my wife now). The Libra is an amazing successor AND I don’t have to deal with Amazon anymore.

Kobo vs Kindle

I’m a pretty dedicated Kobo owner but it’s largely personal preference. The Paperwhite is a really good device and Amazon’s ecosystem is very easy to use. There’s a reason that Amazon is basically the default ereader for a lot of people. I switched to Kobo for two reasons. First, the form factor of

Best Ereader for actually owning your books?

I switched from Kindle to Kobo last summer after accidentally dropping a tungsten box cutter on my Oasis. Best accidental ereadercide ever.

Kindle Oasis or Kobo Libra

Libra. As much as I loved the Kindle Oasis, it's hard to find them now with good battery life because they aren't being made anymore.

I summon thee who use kobo

It just depends on what you're looking for. You basically have three classes of devices available to you: Kindle: generally excellent hardware for the price point, but the software is middling, at best. Long tradition of making the experience of using the device actively worse as Amazon chases reven

Amazon ends support for pre-2013 devices

English isn’t my native language either and your post looked fine to me! I agree though - for people who had or could only afford an older Kindle (20% off isn’t necessarily generous for people in countries where a Kindle costs a lot of money compared to their income, and in some countries it’s impos

Is there a reason outside of being Amazon that Kindles are disliked in this sub (US specific)?

I’ve had three Kindles over the years and the Oasis that I got in 2017 is still my primary device, so I’m certainly not anti-Kindle. Would I get another one though once my Oasis dies? Nope. Reasons are many - not a fan of Amazon’s practices; my Oasis has excellent hardware but I don’t like the book

To those of you who have 2 e-readers, why do you keep both and what do you use each one for?

I bought my very first Kindle, a basic 2019 during the pandemic. If has been with me through everything, work, medical school, hospital duties. It’s my solace during those moments that I needed to dissociate. Then in 2024, someone tried to sell me a brand new Boox Page (sealed) for 50% off because t

The Boox Palma 2 is incredibly fragile and should be avoided

I've seen many cautionary tales and I have mine in a case with a screen protector and in padded sleeve inside my purse if I'm going somewhere. So far, so good, and I still think it's worth it not to be tied to the Kindle store. On the other hand, I remember dropping my eight year old Oasis about a d
