I'm sorry OP this sucks and I'm sure you'll make the best decision. The Kobo's are better but they feel more fragile to me and my KLC lives on my bed and still use my Oasis as my outside reader since they built that model tough and still think it was the last good kindle.

They discontinued the oasis and it makes me so sad, my screen broke and I can’t get a new one. But speaking to the point of this thread, when my Oasis kindle broke (RIP), I pulled out my old kindle (probably paperwhite?) that I bought in 2019 and it still works perfectly. I use it every day.

It just depends on what you're looking for. You basically have three classes of devices available to you: Kindle: generally excellent hardware for the price point, but the software is middling, at best. I love my Kobo Libra 2 and while I've found that personally I prefer the Kobo experience over the Kindle experience overall, my Kindle Oasis 3 (still in daily use along with the Libra 2) has for sure the more premium feel... by at least a mile.
