Is there a reason outside of being Amazon that Kindles are disliked in this sub (US specific)?
It's a few things: I really, really like page turn buttons. I understand having a touchscreen on these devices, but when the vast majority of your time is going forwards or backwards, in a book, why wouldn't you have buttons for that? So I have an immediate bend against devices that don't have them.

Questions about the Kindle download controversy…
I was a prime member, had been for over 8 years. I have over 700 books in kindle and over 1200 audiobooks in audible. I used to have a voyage for over 5 years until I accidentally cracked the screen and upgraded to kindle paperwhite signature three years ago. At first, I also believed books in kindl

What's the WORST e-reader you've ever owned?
I'll go first! I got a gen 12 kindle paperwhite signature edition on Christmas, and it was piss yellow on the coolest setting. Makes me mad just thinking about it lol.

Would it be stupid to buy a kindle?
Why do you want to do this the hard way? If you get a kobo you don't need to jailbreak to install koreader, while kindle is making it harder especially with the newest generation, which is what you want by the way, 7" 32 gb is an 11th or 12th gen paperwhite signature.

Kindle Basic (2024) or Kobo Clara BW? Which one has a better screen?
I own the kindle basic and paperwhite signature edition. I’d probably go kobo Clara bw for the size and warm light if I had to do it all again. I side load my books so I don’t really care about the ecosystem and UI doesn’t really matter to me since I just need it to display text at the end of the da

Kobo Libra Colour vs Kindle Colorsoft – Which would you keep?
I don’t have a Colorsoft but I’ve used the Paperwhite Signature edition every day for a year and just switched over to the Libra Color and I much prefer the KLC. My only complaint about the KLC is that the screen is not flush against the bezel and the screen is maybe a little too easy to scratch wit

Comprar e-reader marca Boox

Should publishers be held responsible for keeping eBooks a reasonable file size?
I've had no issues with the first 4 (or 4.5) books. Even large books up to 200 MB are fine. But many eReaders on the market only have 512 MB of RAM. My Boox device with 3GB RAM is fine, but I have two Kindles that have issues with it, a Paperwhite 4 from 2018, and a Paperwhite Signature from 2021. A

I own a Kindle Paperwhite 12th Gen and bought a Kobo Clara BW (review)
In terms of performance, you're comparing the budget Kobo model to the latest Paperwhite. Either way though, when people talk about sideloading and being locked into the ecosystem with Amazon, it's mostly about Amazon restricting books to their hardware and app. Their format is proprietary, while es
