Is there a reason outside of being Amazon that Kindles are disliked in this sub (US specific)?

It's a few things: I really, really like page turn buttons. I understand having a touchscreen on these devices, but when the vast majority of your time is going forwards or backwards, in a book, why wouldn't you have buttons for that? So I have an immediate bend against devices that don't have them.

Questions about the Kindle download controversy…

I was a prime member, had been for over 8 years. I have over 700 books in kindle and over 1200 audiobooks in audible. I used to have a voyage for over 5 years until I accidentally cracked the screen and upgraded to kindle paperwhite signature three years ago. At first, I also believed books in kindl

Would it be stupid to buy a kindle?

Why do you want to do this the hard way? If you get a kobo you don't need to jailbreak to install koreader, while kindle is making it harder especially with the newest generation, which is what you want by the way, 7" 32 gb is an 11th or 12th gen paperwhite signature.

Comprar e-reader marca Boox

Should publishers be held responsible for keeping eBooks a reasonable file size?

I've had no issues with the first 4 (or 4.5) books. Even large books up to 200 MB are fine. But many eReaders on the market only have 512 MB of RAM. My Boox device with 3GB RAM is fine, but I have two Kindles that have issues with it, a Paperwhite 4 from 2018, and a Paperwhite Signature from 2021. A

I own a Kindle Paperwhite 12th Gen and bought a Kobo Clara BW (review)

In terms of performance, you're comparing the budget Kobo model to the latest Paperwhite. Either way though, when people talk about sideloading and being locked into the ecosystem with Amazon, it's mostly about Amazon restricting books to their hardware and app. Their format is proprietary, while es

Sell me on the Xteink X4 — why pick a 4.3" screen over a Kindle Paperwhite?

I bought a kindle Paperwhite Signature edition (with the wireless charging pad) fixed the software to use any ePub + more features. I was using my iPad for reading before. After 2-3 weeks I noticed the kindle was basically just sitting there on my bedside table collecting dust. So I reset it, sent i

How to move away from Amazon?

I upgraded from a voyage to the new Paperwhite signature because I wanted a USB c charging port to match everything else. God damn it sucked. The layout is a mess and it's not clear at all which books I own vrs what it thinks I like. I've bought literally thousands of books from Amazon, on the new K

considering buying kindle ppw 11th just to jailbreak it

I ordered a recent gen paperwhite signature edition and it shipped with a jailbreakable firmware. However, I think a luck factor comes into play. We don’t know when the stock is going to go down so that they start to ship with new firmware. I advise you get the kindle only if you would be comfortabl

jailbroken kindle vs other e readers in the market

shit they have ads on the lockscreen now? Always have, unless you pay the full price to remove them (kindle by default are ad subsidized) or buy a premium device like the Paperwhite Signature model. And even without ads the recommendations on the main screen are still basically ads by another name.
