I'm pulling the triger tonight, which do you recommend?
Kobo clara bw. It might be more expensive than the kindle basic but it's waterproof and has warm light and the kindle basic doesn't have those. You might also wait a couple of days and see if it will get any discounts.

What’s the biggest change happening right now that no one is talking about?
Eh, this change is a bit of a double edged sword. Yes it's easier for amateur authors to find an audience, but it's also easier for people to churn out absolute slop. Kindle Unlimited for example is absolutely full of the literary equivalent of Nintendo eshop Shovelware, including actual "completely

The price of ebooks…oh, my!
Thats the reason that I pirate them and buy a hardcover version if I like the book. The books on your kindle are not yours, Amazon can delete/change them if they feel like it.

Why is the Kobo Clara BW more yellow than the Kindle Basic? Is this normal?
Kindle basics have super cold light, I hate it. This makes the Kobo look yellower in comparison, and the white balance on the camera might be accentuating it, but in my opinion, it's the Kindle that veers towards blue, rather than a natural tone of light.

Why can’t non-verbal autistics talk?
I'm ADHD, autistic, and have a ton of other health issues. I could speak by age 2 and started reading in a headstart program between 2-4. I have a series of medical conditions that affect my muscles. I physically can't speak when I'm stressed or excited because I lose a good amount of control over m

Can anyone else just absolutely not get into reading digital comics, no matter how hard they try?
I really enjoyed it when we had Comixology but after Amazon bought it and merged it with kindle it kind of sucks now

Literally pocket sized books for my commute
A Kindle Basic is a pretty "pocket sized" reader which can mean all your books are pocket sized regardless of heft. 🙂

Kindle PC DeDRM still possible?
Yes, but not with all books. I'm using an older version of the app and it doesn't support some newer books with new formatting that where published after April 2025. For those I've an older kindle basic that I use to download and then add in Calibre, de-DRM for now works this way for the new format
