Why didn't 6 face buttons become the standard?

I've been using my 8bitdo M30 for 2D indie titles lately and have been loving having to extra face buttons personally. Works great for non-fighters even if it was designed for fighters originally

Controller recommendations for a total newbie?

I used the 8bitdo M30 for consoles and the 8bitdo Arcade Stick for arcade. A Genesis-style controller covers a lot of ground because it has plenty of buttons.

Is the Xbox Series X/S controller good for SF6?

The Xbox series controller is fine, imo. Its dpad position isn't ideal but the dpad itself is alright imo, clicky and seems to register well. Where it might fall a little short is if you play classic controls. Modern controls is generally fine on it but I personally don't like the trigger buttons. B

[Sega genesis mini] Should I get a regular three button controller, or a new six button one?

The 8bitdo m30 is a fantastic 6 button controller, and it's cheap to boot. You'd need the 2.4ghz version. Obligatory warning that 8bitdo has shit support, so buy from somewhere with a good return policy if interested.

Looking for a fightpad. I keep hearing the Hori Fighting Commander 4 is the absolute best, but why did nobody copy it?

The 8bitdo M30 is the only controller I will use for FGs. There are 3 versions. https://www.8bitdo.com/m30-wired-controller-xbox works with Xbox and has two extra L R buttons. Requires Windows to update firmware https://www.8bitdo.com/m30 Works with Switch 1/2. Has Bluetooth as well. Can update with

I had it for a little under a year and if you asked me the day before yesterday I would of recommended it whole heartly because it feels and works exactly like the original and I notice it improved my performance compared to anything else I used especially anything that benefited from perfect diagon

LF Controller Recommendations

I go this. https://shop.8bitdo.com/products/8bitdo-m30-bluetooth-gamepad-for-switch-pc-macos-and-android-with-sega-genesis-mega-drive I like it because it has a nice dpad (which I prefer over a stick for fighting games) and 6 face buttons to easily map the different moves.

Steam Controller images from 4gamer article

There are a few, almost every one of them with caveats. The best ones I've used are the previous version of the Hori Fighting Commander (with + d-pad), the 8bitdo M30 Xbox version and the Razer Raion. The 3 of them are great. In general 6 face buttons are preferred but with extra configurable button

Coming from Tekken, should I switch from claw to thumb grip on a pad?

I play on pad as well, and I think you'd probably need to switch controllers if you want to claw grip in SF; something like an 8bitdo M30 or the Victrix Pro, where you can have 6 buttons on the right face of the controller. Maybe you could bind the heavy buttons to L1/L2 and leave R1/R2 unbound, but
