K-Ultra, too difficult to grind
Big spectrum indeed. (I know you know all this, but I liked to add from here for OP.) I have two grinders, 1Zpresso J-Ultra and Mazzer Omega X Soft Burrs. You can’t go dead slow on a hand grinder anyways, you need muscle through it and try to keep a reasonable rpm. In my J-Ultra some dark roast are

Zp6 and J Ultra. Enough grinders for me.
Of course. ZP6 is the clarity king which is for filter coffee. I can't make espresso with ZP6 without pressurized baskets. J Ultra, on the other hand is the espresso grinder. Though 1zpresso did show the chart of J Ultra for filter coffee but I found brewing filter coffee with J Ultra may make my co

J-Ultra v K6 v Lido OG [$250]
I actually disagree with this take. I personally preferred the K6 a lot more, and I like very sharp tasting light roast, funky processed coffee. I felt the J Ultra made everything too ‘same’. On that note though, the K6 failed me for the darkest of roasts, where it was simply bitter, while grinders

I just pulled my first actually good shot ever
I appreciate all the info! Yeah I knew the blade grinder wasn't going to be good but it worked for some sweet milk drinks for a while. I've only been really discouraged the last couple months since I splurged in a j-ultra and just couldnt get the dial in right. I use a scale to measure dose and shot

Suggestions for a grinder
I have used K6, which has exactly the same burr set as the K Ultra. The main difference comes with the handle. I have the straight handle, which made it even more difficult, but I personally believe if you are making more than one shot of coffee or planning to switch beans, then don't go with a manu

Zp6 and J Ultra. Enough grinders for me.
Interesting I'd say that the bitterness depends on the coffee as well there are certainly some beans that are not bitter at all using J-ultra, what I find annoying is the muddied cup like the flavours are not as clear and pronounced, but since my lack of experience I don't know if it's the part of t

How do you muster the willpower to hand grind first thing in the morning?
I roast my own coffee (Aillio bullet r2) and do light roasted coffee. I recently went on vacation to the beach and my Lagom mini stopped working on me. I bought a J Ultra on Amazon since it was the only option I could get delivered quickly and OMG that was not a pleasant experience. Hand grinding li

Is 1Zpresso J-Max reliable for pour over grind? Alt - Light roasted beans reco.
I have been using the J ultra for over a year as i was only drinking espressos. I am guessing the profile is similar to j max. A couple of months ago, the pour over bug kicked in. It was difficult at first to get the clarity snd note separation from it in the beginning, but then i started slow feedi

New considerating a pico
The Pico is the best espresso maker you can get for a low-footprint espresso. HOWEVER: while I bought my Pico for travel, i ended up just ditching espresso for my travel setup. Why? The Pico itself is about 500 grams. The 1ZPresso J-Ultra is another 600. This means that in the most optimal setup, yo

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread
Looking for a hand grinder that's both exceptional on paper and worth owning as an object. The Weber HG-2 is the answer — unfortunately it costs more than my rent. I brew Moka pot now, espresso is the plan in 2–3 years before I move to an electric grinder permanently — at which point this becomes my
