Mother-in-law coming for a visit, so this is the state the strip for the next week.
Zwilling Pro Rocking Santoku (5.5”). I got it for my wife last year when it was on a huge sale for $39.99, because she is afraid to touch any bigger knives. She doesn’t cook at all but occasionally cuts a lime or lemon for a cocktail. It’s actually a handy little knife for grabbing for a quick mince

Recently moved and a box of kitchenware went on an adventure—including my Global knives. Looking for replacement/upgrade recs.
I have a Yu Kurosaki Senko SG2 150 Ko Santoku that weighs 3.2 ounces that I could use for everything if I wanted. Mine has a walnut handle, otherwise like this. https://youtu.be/wBGPBKwyZa0?si=JmO5TZc6Gn623oBo Cost about $200. Unfortunately I have no idea where to get another one. But I think a simi

Would this be a good gift?
There’s a slightly smaller one that she might like better, depending on how comfortable she is with knives: https://cutleryandmore.com/products/zwilling-pro-rocking-santoku-knife-41390 There’s also this Global for $99, same size as the one you shared: https://cutleryandmore.com/products/global-hollo

New Chef's Knife (Zwilling Pro)
The Zwilling Pro Rocking Santoku is a bit shorter length with a bit taller profile and has a lower tip. And I thought the k-tip looked cool. I actually have both the 5.5 inch Rocking Santoku with 40mm height at heel as well as the 7 inch. The 5.5 was my first upgrade knife over the cheapest of cheap

Recommendations For Quality Chef+Paring Knives That Last
This is a pretty nice knife for $60. https://cutleryandmore.com/products/zwilling-pro-rocking-santoku-knife-41390 I got one a while back when it was $50, minus 15% discount to make it $42.50. Although I have since added a similar size Japanese 150 Ko Santoku with SG2 steel, that cost about $200. Thi

I like the handle and bolster on the Zwilling Pro. Although I wouldn't recommend doing so to just anyone, I've chopped through chicken thigh bones without issue using my Zwilling Pro 7 inch Rocking Santoku. They are a classy looking knife with a nice heft to them. Mostly in the handle, so they don't

Best Singular Knife for Home Cooking
I bought a zwilling pro rocking santoku 7" knife way back in college and it's a great size if you only have 1 knife. It's still the largest kitchen knife my family has 8 years later, but is much easier to use for smaller tasks than a full size chefs knife.

DO NOT BUY IKEA 365+ KNIVES
Alright fine. This is a piece of mid tier knife and OP abused it. Personally, I would recommend folks to get ZWILLING knives on warehouse sale. I found a Zwilling PRO Santoku for $20 at my most recent ZWILLING warehouse sale. Can't beat that, not even IKEA. Got a PRO Cleaver as well for $10.
