It's a combination of the larger peak force on LRS, plus the larger rope diameter. Every belay device has its sweet spot WRT rope size. Belay Devices
I'd recommend anything with assisted breaking, whether that's a GriGri, NEOX, Pinch, Smart, Mega/Gigajul or anything else that's rated for it. I haven't really got on well with the Trango Vergo or Wild Country Revo, but just about any other assisted breaking device works well for me
