So impressed by the Wharfedale Evo 5.1s
Wharfedale isn't playing around! I've not heard one yet that doesn't stun and please me. Tremendous value! Super Dentons are my end-game speaker for my den. Trying to buy less new records to save up. Doing kinda sorta OK.... lol FYI - while they last, Music Direct has new old stock of the 220's, (5.

New Near-field Setup
I love the Ghorns. I run a pair of them as monoblocks as the amps in my one listening setup (smaller room), feeding my Wharfedale Denton 85th anniversary speakers and I absolutely love that setup. I also have one Ghorn F powering my desktop speakers, a pair of KEF Q150s. Way more power than I think

Getting it right the first time isn't possible, but I want to get as close as I can within my budget.
I'm a Yamaha fanboy, but I have to agree on the Wiim Amp Ultra and second-hand speakers. You can find some absolutely killer stuff out there if you're patient. What I would do in the meantime is go listen to different SOUNDING types of speakers to see what you like. Some speakers are bright. Some ar

Desktop speaker choice
If this is mostly nearfield / desk listening and you’ve only got 10–20 cm from the rear wall, I’d prioritise controlled bass and good off-axis behaviour over sheer scale. Quick thoughts on your list: KEF LS50 Meta – excellent imaging and midrange, but they’re not ideal that close to a wall without s

Bought a new deck - what II and IV blank tapes are still decent in 2026? Any other hacks for cheaper tapes?
Thank you! Will check out your suggestions :) yeah, I'm really buzzed about the CR4, redoing my whole hifi and pairing it with a NAD 3020, and some Wharfedale Denton 85 speakers

First serious setup
Congratulations 🎉 It's amazing and I am sure big money was spent on these baby's. For your first you went straight to the top. No playing first with wharfedales, kefs, Elacs or Dyna audio? 😜 Just curious, did you do research on B&Ws and their listening fatigue? Sorry Abt your divorce, btw m in the s

New System $5000 Nyc area
Since you'll be keeping your speakers close to the wall, in your situation I'm an even bigger fan of room correction than normal. So for a streaming amp/receiver in your price range, and with some price variability depending on speaker choice price:Yamaha R-N1000aNAD C 700 V2Lyngdorf TDAI-1120Marant

What do you need right now to make your system feel "complete"?
Some speaker stands tbh. I’ve got a great little setup with the Wharfedale Denton 80th, Cambridge CXA61, and 2-SVS SB 1000’s. Also have the Technics 1500c with a Sumiko Moonstone going through a project phono box pre. The only thing I really want to do eventually is upgrade my speakers to the Linton

Ever plug your speakers’ ports?
I plugged my Wharfedale Dentons when I had them close to a wall and supplemented by a subwoofer. It worked well.
