Looking to buy my nephew a good “first” chef. Leaning towards Mac Pro 8”. Suggestions?
I own both the Wusthof classic 8-inch and 10-inch chef knives. I like the 10-inch knife better. It is more powerful and can do more since it is longer. The 10-inch is a scaled-up version of the 8-inch knife. I only bought the 8-inch classic Wusthof because it was recommended by internet people sayin

Home cook looking to invest in first high quality knives
I like the Wusthof classic 10-inch chef knife and I own one. I also own a couple of Henkels 10-inch 4star chef knives. They work well also. I think the 8-inch chef knives are too short. I own a Wusthof classic. I owned a MAC Pro chef knife for about a year and gave it away. It was short and had a sm

My wife spent almost $700 on a set for me but It was the Gordon Ramsay Hexclad set. I would like to return them and purchase a better similar set. What recommendations do you have that I could take a look at?

I could really use your guy’s help with some knife recommendations please!
Either a Wusthof Classic Chefs Knife or Wusthof Santoku. Regarding the usual Redditor’s on Victorinox; they are good, but cheaper and lower quality than Wusthof. A quick Google notes: Choosing between a Wüsthof and a Victorinox chef's knife comes down to premium craftsmanship versus budget-friendly

I can sharpen my knife Razer sharp, but the edge doesn't last
My German knives last longer than that. My Henckels 4star, Zwilling, and Wusthof Classic knives are sharpened on my Worksharp Ken Onion using their belts and a leather stropping belt with green polishing compound. My cutting boards are maple and 1 cherry. I can't tell you the difference. I consider

Wusthof Classic or Victorinox Grand Maitre? Other?
I have some Wusthof classics that I like. I sharpen them at 15 degrees. My favorite is the 10-inch chef knife. An 8-inch is too short for me. A 9-inch starts getting good. A 12-inch is a little long. I sharpen my 12-inch at 20 degrees because I cut through small bones and it holds an edge better cut

Im at a loss. I've bought countless sets but have never found one with truly sharp pieces. Here desperately looking for recommendations that will slice effortlessly through a tomato like warm butter.
If I sharpen a Wusthof Classic at 15 degrees it will cut paper thin. Probably not as thin as some of the thin Japanese knives but transparent. Good enough for me. I have a picture but I cannot post it. I never use anything that thin anyway. I agree with not buying a set. Buy the knives you need. A 1
