IMO the newer Verizon model (cr1000) doesn't offer that much improvement over the g3100 in real world scenarios, even though it does technically have better hardware. Verizon will be coming out with a new router within the year though. If you're an internet only customer you can also consider buying

DFS channels may be clearer. However, they run at less power. Some older devices cannot “see” them. I disable them. Verizon’s G3100 and CR1000A/B routers do a pretty good job handling WiFi with SON enabled.

The E3200s work great if you can do coax backhaul. I have 3 of those in my house with a G3100 router and its great. I tested an Asus mesh system as well but it was not nearly as good as coax connected E3200's. The Verizon equipment is very good imo, see if you can get one for free from Verizon befor

You can just take the G3100 out without calling Verizon. I highly recommend using Ethernet backhaul between the ASUS Mesh nodes. At Gigabit speeds, wireless backhaul struggles or doesn't give you the appropriate spacing. ASUS gives you a setting in the GUI to enable if you have all of your nodes on

There's two white Verizon routers, a cylinder shaped one (G3100) or a rectangular one (CR1000). You ideally need to test hardwired. There's too many variables with wifi. But if you have a laptop, toggle off the wifi until you're close to the router, then toggle it back on, that should ensure you're
