Quick comparison of my windshield mounted dash cam versus Rivians DriveCam recording (Gen1).
I just thought people might find it interesting to see a side by side comparison of a 4k dashcam versus what Gen1’s DriveCam footage looks like (and also to show off an annoying stop sign runner 😑). Rivian’s DriveCam is actually very wide. Even more of a wide angle view than my dashcam. The main iss

Gotta get a dashcam
Dashcams are definitely important. I got the Vantrue N4 Pro S and it’s been really solid for me.

Dashcams
I’ve has the Vantrue N4 dashcam for almost 2 years and it works great. It’s turned out to be great for autocrossing and track events, too, and I’ve been able to aim my action camera outside or at my feet for review.

With EP crazy drivers evidence becomes important!
I've used vantrue and viofo and both have been good. Right now I am running viofo a229 pro, which is a 3ch setup, on one of my vehicles. The thing I like about them is that it looks like if one of the cameras fails I can just buy the one that failed instead of having to buy the whole package again.

Looking at getting a dashcam during Black Friday: what are pros and cons of VIOFO vs Vantrue?
Do you have any issues about viofo telling you to format the SD card?I've read that its ideal to format them every 1 to 3 month or so.I currently have Vantrue N4 Pro for about 2 years and it never gave me a warning or notification to format them.Only time I had SD card error message or telling me th

Vantrue n5s?
Something I just noticed - it looks like they sacrificed some front-camera resolution to add that 4th camera. The front camera on the N4 is 4K, on the N5 it's only 2.7K. One thing I like about the Vantrue is that one side of the unit is a capture button. No guessing. I think most of these will last.

My boss was in a major accident yesterday.
Own both a Viofo 319 pro (believe the newest model is 329S) and Vantrue N4 pro, both fantastic. Thinks i'd look for if looking to buy is the CCD (look for STARVIS2) and capacitor over battery (cap more heat / cold tolerant). Been a couple years since I bought mine but dashcam market seems very much

Anyone have experience with Magellan brand?
Skip the Magellan DR50 for now. While the specs (4K IMX678 front, 2K rear) look great on paper, Magellan is a navigation brand and the dashcam community has almost no long-term reliability experience with it. Early reports also suggest a potential for lagging/overheating in warm weather, which is th

Recent update changed 12V port behavior on ‘24 Nautilus
I'd suggest that you get the dashcam hardwired. I've got the Vantrue N4 Pro installed on our '24 Nautilus Hybrid with the hardwire kit and have had no issues.

Get a dash cam you guys. Tesla cam is garbage. Guy that hit me ran. Can’t make out a plate too pixelated
I feel you there. Tesla Cam is great but a good dashcam is absolutely better. Not sure if it would have helped here, maybe. Sometimes it won't. Better to have it than not in my opinion. I have a Vantrue N4 Pro. Thing is expensive but definitely worth it. I spent extra on this one cause the last one
