Yet another real world UTR experience
Point 1: Ubiquiti ad said that UTR would simplify connection to hotel wifi. It didnt. Point 2: The router has to be configured on your phone because it doesnt turn on wifi by default. Which is less convenient than the old travel router i had which was configured by web. Point 3: I cant tether my lap

Ubiquiti Travel Router - Initial Impressions
Here is my post from earlier today - https://www.reddit.com/r/Ubiquiti/s/MuBzzXN2kf Now that my UTR is working, I attempted doing Factory Reset through the UI app. Nothing happens. The Update option through the UI app results with no action. I am not able to SSH to my UTR. I was on Ubiquiti support

First trip with the UTR, what a joke
The device in its current state is a disappointment. You can get more functionality from an old router running OpenWrt. I’m a Ubiquiti fanboy, but the UTR is such a mess.

Glinet vs UniFi Travel Router
I'm in a similar situation and have been hemming-and-hawing. At the end of the day, I chose the GL.inet Beryl AX (GL-MT3000). My reasons were: The cost difference was negligible: CAD$122 vs CAD$115. Actually, the GL.inet shipping is free whereas I'm pretty sure that Ubiquiti would charge additionall

Unifi is playing Gl-inet dirty. What's everyone's thoughts on their new travel router?
Let me just say... I have a full UniFi setup at home and I bought the new UniFi Travel Router 30 seconds after it was released with ridiculous $40 next-day shipping because I wanted to use it for an upcoming work trip (to CES, in fact). I would definitely consider myself a Ubiquiti fan. However, aft

UTR vs new GL.iNet Mudi 7… real choice now
There's nothing Ubiquiti makes in this space that competes with the GL-iNet equivalent - only reason to even consider a UniFi product in this space is to fanboy. I love UniFi like the rest of you nerds but I wouldn't trust a UniFi device for my actual travel router needs. Lack of features, lack of e

First trip with UTR
I’ve seen a litany of complaints from people. Mostly due to limitations, not so much the performance. Overall consensus is that GL.iNET does everything better. Take a look around the comments on the endless posts about the UTR here or on the software release threads on the official forums. Edit: her

30 days with the UTR
I get it, but I think it underlines ubiquiti’s strategy. This first iteration is trying to differentiate from GL.iNet through smaller form factor. The only other thing I’ll add is I don’t typically encounter a gigabit uplink. Most uplinks at hotels/airports/cafe’s are 10-50mbs, and from my testing,

UTR is not a replacement for GL.Inet
Your post makes me feel better about cancelling my order. I was pretty excited when Ubiquiti announced a travel router since my entire network is UniFi. Once it became available here, I placed an order — about $145 CAD after shipping and tax. After that, I started watching some YouTube reviews and g
