Walmart still has an Amplifi system for sale.

The Amplifi line from Ubiquiti is actually a good reliable WiFi and Mesh system for the average home user. I had two of the Amplifi Aliens and they were great devices very good WiFi coverage and easy to setup. I never had any issues out of them.

New house set up

Unfortunately there isn’t one brand that does everything well so depending on what you want you’ll end up with a few brands/options/hubs. Here’s my setup of a little over a year and I’ve had 0 issues in my new house. I use Ethernet whenever possible, and give static IPs to every smart home device. M

Wireguard VPN in china

I’m using an Express 7 in China that connects via WireGuard to a UCG-Ultra in Canada and a UDR-7 in Hong Kong. Both work very well with sustained speeds up to 300Mbps down and 30Mbps (limited by the local China upload speed) up. This is with 1Gbps+ bidirectional connections on the networks outside o

On the iOS26 beta, and HomeKit now shows how long a device has been “No Response.”

I've had my fair share of No Response issues within HomeKit and it mostly started when I got a a tp-link Deco router. (my first WiFi6 router) A lot of my devices did not like how the router managed the WiFi 6 standard especially on 2.4GHx band (if you turned that off and went with the older WiFi sta

Advice needed: UniFi Protect setup without Ethernet cabling (currently using AmpliFi Alien)

I’m unfamiliar with AmpliFi Alien but I would recommend always hardwiring these devices. It’s worth it for reliability and reducing the load on your home WiFi If you insist on keeping AmpliFi, try to run cables (consider outdoor runs too, they can often simplify your setup considerably) and strategi

Alien Setup Replacement

I can assure you switching to unifi is no big deal anymore. I also upgraded my alien setup to 2 u7 pro wall access points, 2 unifi flex mini 2.5 switches and the cloud gateway max. Total cost not more than 2 Amplifi alien at retail and the upgrade for me was huge. 2.5G network everywhere and more th

Just ordered ATT 1G fiber. Which cable to bypass with UDM Pro?

Just set this up with my new UniFi setup, moving from doing this with my old Amplifi Alien setup. This is the way.

Is this router a good choice to improve my speeds?

Unless you need 6GHz Wi-Fi, you could go with an Amplifi alien or two with a mesh setup. But that's only Wi-Fi 6. It's still really good. For your gaming, though, I recommend connecting with ethernet.

Poor man's setup

Most consumer AIO single and mesh units will outperform a single UniFi AP. An Amplifi Alien is designed for someone who just wants to plug it in wherever. APs are designed for strategic placement.

It’s Official!

I currently have two Amplifi Alien routers with one in bridge mode acting as a mesh node. Has a dedicated 6GHz backhaul connection to not eat into overall bandwidth from other devices. I have zero connectivity issues across maybe 30-40 devices connected. I always see a NAT of Open across other devic
