TP-Link router vulnerabilities found in Latvia
I replaced my 3-unit TP-Link AX3000 (Deco X55) mesh setup with two Cudy WR3000S models running OpenWRT, one in dumb AP mode. The only compliant I have is range, and as far as I can tell it’s pretty much just aesthetic - one bar lower in my bedroom, but speeds are fine. My main complaint with the Dec

Finally bit the bullet and added a standalone wired router
Oh! I got the tp link omada er605 for $50. It seems way way more capable than the routing aspect of the deco x55. This router has a built in switch as well so I run wires from it to my various access points.

It seems way way more capable than the routing aspect of the deco x55. u/Appropriate-Bet3576, agreed! and that has been our experience in our household as well, aka hardwired APs throughout the home - we've never had a single issue with WiFi coverage in a 4 story home, brick walls + a basement -> wi

Router / AP recommendations for house
Depends on your budget and internet speed. As an other poster said you’d want one AP per floor. Get a 3 pack of TP Link deco- X55 or X75 would be fine or if you want more future proof then BE63 or similar. Should be in the 200-500 euro range. Omada and Unifi are better solutions, require a bit more

Terrible Customer Service
I have 2 Deco X55 units. The December update added the QoS option, which was activated by default. It caused a lot of connectivity problems. I disabled QoS by going to Settings -> More. I still see the main unit's red light go on for a few seconds sometimes, but there is no loss of connectivity.

Deco / tplink appreciation
My solution was to use a router before the deco x55 .. and yes the deco's also has the issue of requiring a working connection - somewhat.. So i use mine as access points

Deco x55 speed issues
I've had nothing but problems when I added an X55 to my Deco mesh and no problems after removing it. Search this sub for X55 and see how many issues people post. Ditch the X55 and get a different model.

Moving from Deco to Ubiquiti
I moved from a Deco X55 mesh system last year. But I only used two of the three nodes I had. The management was the worst part. I absolutely hated how you are forced to use a mobile app for everything. The browser interface was very barebones. It made troubleshooting any issues very frustrating beca

How to avoid double nat type?
You should disable the Optimum wifi. Where are you connecting the first Deco x55 to the router? If it's in the same room or next it's going to be an overkill and the 2 wifi devices will just cause interference with each other. What you can do is take the network name and password from the Optimum wi

Appreciate the comment and question! We do right now, yes. I need to think on what you said to make sure I understand. What we’ve got is AT&T Fiber 1000 service with a BGW320 gateway that’s been providing adequate service throughout the house for both of us to be on calls all day. 1800 square feet o
