Too Many Options... Best NAS for Backup + Media Server

If you want a nice prebuilt, you could look at Ugreen or TerraMaster. Both are unlocked units and unlike Synology, you can use the OS and drives of your choice. In the 4 bay, I think the Ugreen DXP4800 (N100) for $499 or DXP4800 Plus (Pentium Gold 8505) for $595 is the best bang for buck. There is t

I’m looking at buying a F6-424 Max

The release time for Terramaster's new products is quite random. Given the general increase in hardware costs, if the F6-424 Max already meets your needs, I think it would be a good choice to go ahead and purchase it.

recommended mini desktop for unraid

Terramaster is another option. Im running unraid on a TERRAMASTER F6-424 Max and it blows my synology ds1621+ out of the water.

Need help making a NAS purchase decision

Terramaster f6-424 max with unraid maybe? About the same price on Amazon, but the terramaster is expandable to 64gb Ddr5, 12 Gen i5, and 10GbE connections. Main downside to me is only 2 nvme SSD slots. Both 6 bays. Installing unraid does seem pretty simple, and last I checked terramaster still honou

Finally, the setup for my medical center is fully complete. From here on, it’s just a matter of adding hard drives to expand its capabilities.

I've used Synology, UGOS (Ugreen), and TOS6/7 (TerraMaster). My practical experience is that it speeds up the start of copies, but overall improves performance by 15 to 30%. It's cheaper to add another hard drive to the pool (RAID). But that's my experience, and I'm sticking with my Terramaster F6 4

Help building a system.

I did consider doing that. But isn't it going to be less efficient or potentially problematic with the OS?Remember that I have no experience with servers. I'm afraid I buy a ugreen pre-built unit to then realize I'm not gonna be able to use HexOS (which is my goal). In any case, I found a new unit f

Just grabbed an F6-424 Max on sale! Any tips for a first-time NAS setup?

just set up a F6-424 MAX as well. One thing I would say is upgrade the memory asap. 8GB was not cutting it for simple things. I have setup a few docker containers; glances, homarr, scrutiny, beszel , dashdot and doublecommander for qol improvements, but then went to get going with immich and with th
