Hey /r/Sysadmin! What do you use for your home router? 2026 Edition
Synology RT6600AX. 2.5Gb Wan port, Solid Mesh WiFi, Vlans, AV, apps, URL filtering. Updates from a serious company. ITs not a Palo Alto but . . . That'll do pig. That'll do. I use a BASIC Motorola DOCSIS modem in Passthrough mode. I don't trust providers equpiment even as a door stop.

Hey /r/Sysadmin! What do you use for your home router? 2026 Edition
I am incredibly impressed with the RT6600AX. I got it because I wanted something a bit beefier and the profiles concept seemed like a fast way to terminate internet for lazy teenagers. I was able to grab a MR2200AC for easy wifi extension. I don't see myself moving off of it willingly anytime soon.

Alternatives to Ubiquiti?
I use the Synology RT6600ax with RT2600 (now discontinued) and MR2200 wired mesh points and Netgear GS316EPP and GS305EPP switches. Everything works great and uptime and continuity throughout the coverage area is superb. I know Synology doesn’t get much love in this sub, but it’s something worth con

Modem upgrade?
Tired the Starlink router for about 1 day. Hated it... No real control of anything and the range really sucked. Bought a Synology RT6600AX and several of their smaller routers to mesh and love them. That said, I wouldn't really buy them now as they are a bit on the old tech side now. As someone ment

Ongoing Google Fiber WiFi Issues – Need Advice
I bought a Synology RT2600ac. Main attraction for that one was the built-in parental controls to keep my kids off the weird parts of the internet. It's a pretty nice router overall too. You can do a lot of cool stuff with it that most normal consumer routers can't/don't do. EDIT: Looks like it's not

RT6600AX WiFi Coverage
What I would do is treat this router as the core unit and plan for additional access points. The RT6600ax is designed to work in a mesh setup, and once you add nodes like a WRX560 or another Synology router, coverage becomes consistent and predictable instead of patchy. Folks who run it in mesh gene

GigaHub + bridge mode
Google gigahub bridge mode and find the tek4you YouTube videos on how to setup. I don't have a business account. I have PPPoe setup to my RT6600ax mesh router. I get 1.5gbps via its wan interface but I do have to run multiple devices at once to saturate. I can VPN home through to the vpn service on

Anybody else having lots of issues lately?
Yes, I have the RT6600AX, and I’m meshing with an RT 2600AC. They’re excellent routers, I really do like them, they’re a little long in the tooth now but the software is excellent for an IT guy like me who wants a lot of control. For most of my clients I recommend and install Eero, but I have a few

How to force Mobile Data for internet while maintaining Ethernet LAN connection on Samsung S10+?
FYI I've used Synology RT2600ac snd RT6600ax routers and they both allow you to simply block an internal device based on MAC from accessing the Internet. A simple click on the interface.
