to be fair, the reason choosing synology is because physically durable, less ransome issue and applications. That's why i was using ds418j and ds420j but recently i bought 2nd hand ds1819+ and ds1515+

I love my Synology DS420j but you need to find the best solution for you, but a 4 bay minimum for running a RAID array for protection. I’d also recommend a reasonably priced UPS with USB hookup to tell the NAS when the power has died to start shutdown sequence. Mine was £80
