IEMs don't work for me too, so I use headphones and ear buds. For super bang for buck headphones check out Superlux HD681 EVO and HD668B. For ear buds, Faaeal Iris 2.0 and Rosemary are great options for $12 or less.

Is this more user friendly than it looks?
If you're really on a budget ($20 USD is tricky), the Sennheiser HD206 is your best bet. However, if you can stretch your budget a little, I can heartily recommend the Audio Technica ATH-M20x.
