IEMs don't work for me too, so I use headphones and ear buds. For super bang for buck headphones check out Superlux HD681 EVO and HD668B. For ear buds, Faaeal Iris 2.0 and Rosemary are great options for $12 or less.

Ok this is going to sound silly but to start with you need to buy a pair you'll probably hate but are cheap and wired. Buy a paid of Superlux the HD681 are more neutral, HD668B are Treble heavy and HD681EVO are base heavy you don't need all 3 one will do. This is because almost every damn headphone

If you combine wires output and input into one plug it will sound like shit. Cord cannot handle two way audio quality well. Superlux HD668B MKII are excellent value entry level, HD681 Evo if you can't find them. Chances are you will not feel the need to upgrade them until they break, they are very good. DT770 Pro are closed backs btw and are probably the best value closed backs for competitive gaming currently. For open
