I would say the pads are thicker than what steelcase includes with their standard cushion. The crandall cushion is still on the firmer side but I think it will wear in with more use. I think Herman miller makes fantastic chairs and the ergonomics are on par, but the Steelcase engineering outclasses even them when it comes to longevity imo.
