edit actually, I see now that those are Voron builds with green accents, not the ratrig vcore. So I guess feedback would mostly pertain to sovol performance I'm currently going back and forth between a RatRig Vcore and Sovol SV08 Max, in search of a 500mm build volume. I modded my sv08 into a stealthchanger and replaced the mainboard with a btt kraken. The first thing you should upgrade imo is the dinky 150w psu with something like the lrs350-24. I think upgrading the mainboard is worth it because the stock board is cheap af, and you will save yourself from a lot

Core One! While I’m sure the SV08 is tuned decently, my Core One has been perfect. I have a Voron 2.4 for tinkering, and will likely build a trident for INDX.

I backed the U1 simply because snapmaker is a well established company. Did the same with the Sovol SV08 Max. I’m also really looking forward to fitting the Bondtech INDX on the SV08 Max. I can only imagine how many extrusion heads I’ll be able to fit in that thing. (Slaps roof)

Well you're certainly never going to beat the upgradeability of a Voron. But in most other ways... It sounds like you want to go with the SV08. Particularly with your desired price point and hopes for something relatively plug and play. I went straight from an Anycubic i3 Mega S to building a 2.4 St

I'd say a SV08 greatly benefits from Mainline + Eddy + Triangle Labs or Microswiss Hotend. This with some good macros gets you 90% of the way. Then f.e. a case + chamber heating for some more challenging filaments like ABS/ASA or similar. Lastly INDX or Stealthchanger if you want multimaterial.

It was a great feeling that immediately after assembling my Sovol SV08 Max I had successfully printed something where as my CR-10 S5 took disgusting amounts of effort to print anything even bad quality and still required upgrades to get marginally better results.
