Convince me to switch

For wedding photography I think you'd be better off keeping the FX30 as your A camera, especially if you rely on autofocus. The main advantage with the BMPCC 4K is the better flexibility for grading: I have an FX30 as well and while the footage is much more flexible than I feared (in terms of adjust

What competitors colour sciences/log profiles integrate well with Slog3?

Don't know exactly if any other brands necessarily "match well" with Slog 3, but if i could make a recommendation I would tell you to consider investing in a Color Chart such as those from X-Rite or Datacolor. I bought a Datacolor SpyderCheckr a couple of years ago and it's AMAZING for getting a goo

Freelancer stuck between Blackmagic and Sony need to replace my broken BMPCC 6K

If you're shooting the BMPCC 6K the more obvious parallel in the Sony world would be the FX 30, not the FX3. It's half the price of the FX3 but same form factor, it's just APS-C instead of full-frame. It has the same cinema features (shutter angle vs. shutter speed, Cine-EI exposure system for shoot

At what point do/did you buy a cinema line camera?

A cinema-line Sony body from the FX6 on up in my experience are only ever needed on jobs that eclipse a certain budget or that require the camera to have a certain 'look'. While that may sound silly it is usually the determining factor for me whether I bring a mirrorless-design cinema body vs a full

Adventure Cinematography

Yo! I would go a6700. Like you said: 10 bit color so grading is fun. It feels compact but not cheap or anything like that. It has the same sensor as the Fx30 from Sony's cinema line so the footage looks great. It is weather sealed, so while I would still be very careful with it - it's "supposed to"

FX30 or ZV-E1

I’m trying to decide between these cameras too, maybe the FX3 too if I find the right deal or can’t pull the trigger before an FX3 II drops and kills the used price of the FX3. Because that’s another thing you have to think about when buying an FX3 in 2026: it might soon be replaced, maybe – or mayb

Documentary filmmaking options

I’d say fx-30 as that’s what it’s made for but you could make any of them work, I guess, especially if you really need photo. Honestly, I’d choose a lens mount first. Then, I’d pickup all the accessories you need: mics and lights and whatever and then buy whatever body you can afford with the remain

Why are some comments on fx30 so vicious, is it that bad if a camera doesn't perform insane in low light? I would love to hear your thoughts on it, previous users and industry professionals.

I have used FX-30 and I liked it. The lenses you choose will have a bigger impact on your image quality. Low light performance is overrated and a strange obsession youtube reviewers have with cameras. The best bang for buck low light performance improvement is to add light to your scene. Who are the

When does it make sense to get a Full Frame camera? Question coming from a person who recently jumped from my iphone 14 pro to an FX30.

It all depends on your use case- each camera is unique and has its own idiosyncrasies- fx30 is apsc only with no mechanical shutter and slightly older autofocus- however it can shoot 4k 120 fps, which fx2 can’t do. The fx2 is full frame and also has dynamic active stabilization and a great evf, howe

Best video camera worth buying the MOST currently in your opinion?

Been running the Sony FX30 for a few months now and it’s basically the “I want cinema features but I’m not paying FX3 money” camera. I came from hybrid/mirrorless stuff and the difference is immediate: this feels like an actual Cinema Line tool, not a photo camera that happens to shoot video. 6K ove
