Sony FX3 is kinda where the consumer high end went. Lumix with the S5IIx is the best value for money right now. The Sony FX30/ZVE1 and Lumix S9 make for great small form factor video machines. Most of today’s cameras make a great image but are limited by how long you need them to run, cameras used t

I work in film and use this type of gear pretty often. Seems like this dude wants you to rent this stuff so he can take pictures of the gear lol completely unnecessary especially if this is a photo first gig. If I was hired for this type of gig and I only had an A1 I would ask for maybe a rental for

i ran into this same dilemma last year. sony typically announces new cameras in spring or fall, so waiting could be 6+ months. the fx3 is still a beast for cinema work and that 24-70 gm ii will hold value. if you need a camera now for your msc projects, just get it. the mark ii rumors are just specu

I own FX3, ZV-E1, A7iv and the new A7v. After some testings and a few field gigs, the A7v certainly has the better sony Autofocuse system and better in-body stabilizer, and sharper in-camera 4k video codec than FX3 and ZV-E1. Low light is shockingly as good as FX3 and ZV-E1 up to ISO 12800... ZV-E1

i feel you on this one because i passed on the fx3 twice myself before finally getting it. here is the thing - you already said filmmaking is the main goal and you have wanted the fx3 for years. that feeling does not go away. the a7v will do both fine but every time you shoot video you will wonder w

I mean a mirrorless camera is never going to stack up to a proper cinema camera. But if you are in the market for a mirrorless option and you want something that is as close to a cinema camera as possible while also having IBIS, you’re pretty much stuck with Panasonic, which isn’t that bad of a manu

I suppose it depends on your definition of "night and day" - my Nikon D750 was missing focus but part of that might have been due to miscalibrated/dropped lenses. It was fine in good light. In the dark the A7RV isn't much better. It is a huge improvement, and along with using an FX3 for video and it
